  • 7g sachet dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons dried italian herbs
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1 cup grated cheddar
  • 1 1 4 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 40g butter
  • 3 garlic cloves crushed
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated parmesan
  • 1 2 cup white bread flour
  • 1 3 cup water

  • place flour salt yeast herbs sugar and half the cheddar in a large bowl make a well in the centre combine lukewarm water and oil in a jug add to well stir to form a soft dough turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface knead dough for 5 minutes or until smooth divide dough into 12 equal sized pieces roll into balls
  • grease a 4cm deep 23cm base 27cm top round ovenproof frying pan place dough balls in prepared pan cover pan with a clean tea towel stand in a warm place for 45 minutes or until dough has risen slightly

  • place butter and garlic in a small bowl microwave on medium 50 for 30 seconds or until melted brush dough balls with garlic butter snip off 1 corner from snap lock bag pipe flour paste over the top of each dough ball to form a cross sprinkle with parmesan and remaining cheddar bake for 25 minutes or until buns are golden and sound hollow when tapped serve warm
